• Clean furnace filters to remove dust and hair accumulation, make it easier to regulate your home's temperature, reduce occupant allergies and ultimately decrease utility bills. Consider replacing the filter with a model of higher MERV rating – the higher the better from 1-16 especially if sensitive to dust and pet hair or dander!
• Clean faucet aerators and shower-heads to remove mineral deposits and prevent mold formation – especially if you are one of the many Canadian Snowbirds who fly somewhere warmer for months at a time.
• Inspect tub and sink drains for physical debris such as hairs and soap residues; unclog, again this will help prevent bigger problems in the years to come.

• Clean the garbage disposal and prevent unwanted odours by grinding ice cubes in it, then flushing with a mix of hot water and baking soda.
• Check washrooms and powder rooms for effective water sealing – especially around shower enclosures, baths and behind sinks. So much water damage can be caused by the smallest of cracks or holes in sealant that only costs a few dollars if noticed early.
• Check toilets for correct operation and water level in the water tank and that the water inlet valve and isolation valve are operating correctly. Also check the house’s main water valve for correct operation – if ignored and not operated these can seize, which is highly problematic if something in the plumbing system does spring a leak and you can’t turn the water off!
